Environmental Responsibility

At Green Automation, sustainability is not a badge we’ve earned — it’s a principle we’ve built the business around. Autonomous cleaning technology, done well, is demonstrably better for the environment than traditional manual cleaning methods. We exist to accelerate that transition.

Why autonomous cleaning is greener

Reduced water consumption

Autonomous scrubbing robots use precision-dosed water systems that apply exactly the right amount of water for the surface being cleaned. Compared to traditional mop-and-bucket or manual scrubber-dryer methods, robotic cleaning typically uses significantly less water per square metre — reducing both consumption and the volume of wastewater requiring disposal.

Lower chemical usage

Our robots are designed to clean effectively with minimal or no chemical detergents. Reduced chemical usage means less environmental impact from production, transportation, and disposal of cleaning agents — and safer environments for building users.

Energy efficiency

Modern autonomous cleaning robots are battery-powered and designed for energy efficiency. Scheduled overnight operation during off-peak hours can further reduce energy demand during peak grid times. As the UK’s energy grid continues to decarbonise, electrically powered cleaning equipment becomes progressively lower in carbon intensity.

Extended equipment life through maintenance

Our Robotics-as-a-Service model includes proactive maintenance and servicing as standard. Well-maintained machines last longer — reducing the frequency of replacement and the associated manufacturing and disposal impacts.

Our commitments

  • We select manufacturer partners who share our commitment to responsible production and product stewardship
  • We encourage clients to adopt RaaS over outright purchase where it supports longer asset life and better maintenance outcomes
  • We are committed to reducing unnecessary packaging and transportation waste in our deployment operations
  • We continually review our operations to identify opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint
  • As we grow, we are committed to formalising our environmental management practices and pursuing recognised environmental accreditations

A note on where we are

Green Automation is a young business. We do not yet hold formal environmental certifications, and we believe in being honest about that. What we do hold is a genuine commitment to building a business that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously from the start — not as an afterthought once we’re established.

We will publish updates on our environmental progress as the business develops.
